Freedom and Self Government - Franklin, Washington, & Dostoevsky

In what ways are we equal to others? In what ways are we not? How do our political views relate to these differences and similarities? What are the differing qualities of liberty, equality, and fraternity? To what extent, if any, can a dictatorship be benevolent? What is freedom? We’ll explore these questions in our reading and in the self-reflections that follow. In the process we will learn much more about ourselves and our relationship to the world, political and otherwise.
