Leonardo, The Turning Point

Da Vinci was motivated by observing reality "to transcend the real," to create something beyond the materialistic. He remains one of the first modern spiritual scientists – uniting religion, art, and science in a transformed way. The paradoxical unity of the spiritual and the mundane was the genesis of his work, the essence of his being, and his great legacy to us. We’ll discover the wisdom that underlies da Vinci’s great work, with special emphasis on The Last Supper and his depictions of the 12 disciples. We’ll take a special look at the figure of John, the Beloved Disciple. From the mural's recent restoration, it’s clear John is depicted in a feminine way (as is Christ), evoking the feminine quality of Sophia (Wisdom), which relates to the Holy Spirit and to the Mother of Jesus, as well as to Mary Magdalene.
